Senior Business Development Manager - Offshore Oil & Gas (Houston, TX)

Summary

Job Purpose

The Senior Business Development Manager Offshore Oil & Gas will identify customer needs, market Materia's technology and capabilities, secure new customers to work with Materia and support the commercial advancement of Materia products and technology in the oil and gas markets. The candidate will work cross-functionally with customers, partners, consultants, and Materia applications development, production, and administration staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive revenue growth for Materia's Proxima thermoset resins in offshore oil & gas applications, including subsea insulation, subsea buoyancy and syntactic foam applications
  • Develop and execute growth strategy for offshore oil & gas business
  • Analyze new opportunities for Materia technologies by researching industry and technology trends, and by engaging with consultants and industry experts
  • Secure prospective customers to work with Materia and support product and application development activities based upon Materia's technology
  • Act as the customer's primary liaison through their technology evaluation
  • Work closely with technical, applications and manufacturing teams to drive customer qualification processes and win customer business
  • Negotiate sales and partnership agreements (e.g. joint development agreements, etc.)
  • Manage customer RFQs and pricing communications
  • Identify product opportunities that have a meaningful impact to the bottom line; define specifications to capture specific opportunities

Qualifications + Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a strong preference for a degree in engineering or a related field
  • MBA preferred

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in oil and gas business development with demonstrated ability to generate revenue growth
  • Experience selling products into offshore oil and gas applications. Polymer solutions experience is highly desirable
  • Strong customer facing experience and demonstrated success in managing commercialization of new technology or products
  • Ability to understand and communicate technology effectively
  • Strong project management skills
  • Track record of execution on multiple concurrent projects
  • Travel requirement of 25-50% both domestically and internationally
  • Location Houston, TX, with experience working from a home office
